Materials & Product Information
Straightforward guidance on materials, finish, care and the characteristics of 3D-printed products.
Start with the job
The best material depends on where an item will be used, the forces it will experience and the finish you expect. Product listings state the material supplied and any important limitations.
PLA
Crisp detail and a wide colour range for indoor gifts, décor and light-duty items.
PETG
Tougher and more temperature- and moisture-tolerant than standard PLA for many functional uses.
TPU
Flexible material for suitable grips, bumpers and compliant parts.
Other materials
Available only where the equipment, application and risk assessment make them appropriate.
What a printed surface looks like
FDM parts are built layer by layer. Fine layer lines, a small seam and minor variations are normal characteristics rather than faults. Photographs and descriptions will show the expected finish honestly.
